I don't make spaghetti all that often, because my young'un isn't overly fond of tomato-based sauces. But D and I both love it, so every now and again, we tell R to be a big girl (she's 5) and eat a little bit. We had spaghetti tonight.
But even better, we had garlic and herb bread with it. Fresh baked garlic and herb bread, still warm from the bread machine. Okay, I cheated a little... I started with a boxed bread machine mix. But I didn't stop there, oh no. I added some parmesan cheese, and some mozzarella cheese, and a wonderful garlic and herb seasoning. The whole house still smells nummy, and the loaf is nearly gone already. R's friend from across the street was over and I invited her to dinner. She declined, having already eaten dinner, but R let her try a piece of the garlic bread. About a minute later, she rather diffidently came upstairs to say that she hadn't had quite enough dinner at her house after all, and could she possibly have a piece of the garlic bread?
I was quite happy to oblige, my ego further boosted when the young lady told me that I cook "really great, way better than my mommy." Not that I truly think I'm an especially brilliant cook, but it's nice to hear anyway.
